The Broker by John Grisham
As always, its a page turner. I thought this one was not as suspensful as some of the others he has written. Also, he threw way too much of the main character learning to speak Italian in.

Bucking the Sarge by Christopher Paul Curtis
Everyone who has read this book has told me that it was a good book. I enjoyed the ending but I thought the story was a little much. I mean, a 13 year old kid taking care of a bunch of old men in a nursing home? It was a little hard for me to believe.

Surviving the Applewhites by Stephanie S. Tolan
This was an enjoyable book. Who would have thought that putting on
The Sound of Music using a culturally diverse cast of people playing the Von Trapp family would work?

Messenger by Lois Lowry
Lois Lowry did a much better job with The Giver and Gathering Blue. There was much left out of this story and characters that were missed. I was not fond of the ending at all.

I loved this book better than the other two in this series. Matty is a much more likeable character than in Messenger.
Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry

Gilead by Marilynne Robinson
I listened to this book on CD. It is wonderfully narrated. A beautiful story.

These are all excellent books. They lack a bit in the relationships the characters have with each other however.
